FAQ

It all depends on a few factors. How many circuits are on the consumer unit, the number of accessories such as switches and sockets and the general accessibility of the property.

Usually, it takes up to 4 Hours to complete the test and inspection. The report will then need to be written up.

What if we do happen to find something during the inspection which does not comply with the current wiring regulations. The deviation will be given a code and a corresponding description on the certificate.

The codes are used to determine the severity of the issue and comprise of C1, C2 and C3.

These codes will establish whether a ‘Satisfactory’ or ‘Unsatisfactory’ report will be issued.

Code C1 is Danger present. There is a risk of injury immediate remedial works should be undertaken to remove the situation.

Code C2 is a Potentially dangerous condition. Urgent remedial action is required. The installation could cause injury under fault conditions.

Code C3 is Improvement recommended. Although the installation doesn’t comply with today’s BS7671 it is not deemed dangerous.
